Apartment Association of Greater Los Angeles and Apartment Owners Association of California File Joint Lawsuit Against Los Angeles County Over Illegal Eviction Moratorium
Latest Legal Maneuver Seeks Emergency Relief from the County’s Residential Eviction Ban
The Apartment Association of Greater Los Angeles (AAGLA) and the Apartment Owners Association of California, Inc. (AOA) announced today that they have filed a joint lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court for the State of California on behalf of their members and the County’s rental housing providers seeking a Preliminary Injunction against the County of Los Angeles’s residential eviction moratorium. The move follows nearly on the heels of the County of Los Angeles’s recent extension of the County’s “temporary” COVID-19 related residential eviction protections until June 30, 2023.
St. Paul Minnesota to Roll-Out Rent Control Following Voter Approval Last
November
St. Paul, Minnesota’s new rent control ordinance, which was approved by voters through a ballot initiative last November, is being implemented by the city’s administrators at an estimated cost of about $635,000 through the end of this year. The “rent stabilization” ordinance mandates a 3 percent “cap” on annual residential rent increases, effective May 1st.
America on the Move! And, Americans Are
“Stressed” Because of It!
According to a recent study released by the moving experts at Move.org, up to 61% of Americans that moved last year are planning to move again in 2022. Between supply chain breakdowns, and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, many can say it’s a stressful time to move.
Other “key” findings from the study, which surveyed approximately 1,000 Americans who had moved during 2021, included:
• 38% of recent movers found moving more stressful than a breakup.
• 61% misplaced their belongings during the moving process.
• 55% felt their moving company scammed them.
• 61% experienced a shortage in moving trucks during their move.
