   Americans on the Move!
According to a recent study released by the moving experts at Move.org, as of December 2021, roughly 1-in-5 (about 20%) of Americans movedatsomepointduring2021. Move.organalyzedthelatestmigrationdatatolearnwhereandwhypeoplemovedthisyear. Itsreport found that 1-in-3 people that moved in 2021 purchased a home. Their study also found that Florida was the most moved-to state and California was the top state folks moved away from.
Other “key” findings from the study, which surveyed approximately 1,000 Americans who had moved during 2021, included:
• 43%ofmovestookplacewithinthesamecity,and20%ofmoveswereinterstatemoves.
• 37%ofAmericanscitedlowertaxesasacontributingfactorfortheirdecisiontomove.
• 62%ofAmericansexperiencedsupplychainshortagesduringtheirmove.
• 32%ofthosewhomovedwereseekingbetterweather,and38%citedclimatechangeas the reason for moving.
• 39%movedforpoliticalreasonsand43%wereseeking“betterculture.”
• 45%wereseekinglowercostoflivingbymoving.
California Mortgage Relief May Be Available
The California Mortgage Relief Program uses federal Homeowner Assistance Funds to help homeowners get caught up on their housing payments. Senate Bill 1383: There Go Our Trash Hauling Rates Again!
In its effort to reduce methane emissions from landfills, the State of California passed Senate Bill 1383, (which became effective on January 1, 2022). This new law mandates that by 2025 local governments will be required to divert 75% of organic waste from landfills which are believedtobemajorsourcesof“superpolluting”greenhousegases. Inordertoaccomplishthe required green waste diversion from landfills, property owners of all types will be required to deposit organic waste such as plant clippings and grass, unused foods, coffee grounds, eggshells, banana peels, certain types of food containers, bones, etc. into special, new green waste containers that will be collected and transported to waste composting and anaerobic digestion centers for processing.
